Menu Monday May 10

Ugh...It seems every few weeks I fall off the wagon. SO FRUSTRATING! And to top it off, this week I can feel a food rut coming on. I've been perusing orgjunkie and all the menus posted today and I have a unexciting plan. Oh well, getting back up on the horse is the best i can do.
Sunday- BBQ hamburgers, potato salad, pineapple
Monday-Kid made- Mac & cheese & watermelon
Tuesday- pancakes, fresh fruit
Wednesday-(Open House) Frozen Pizza and salad
Thursday- Potato and bacon soup
Friday-Enchiladas ,spanish rice salad
Saturday- Baked Creamy chicken taquitos from here. I've had it on the menu before but haven't made it yet.
Some of the issue is that I've been sick with bronchitis for about 3 weeks. And of course I didn't hit the dr until last week. Feeling cruddy and tired does not make for great meals. Need to do an food inventory check to get back on track-see where I'm starting from...

What's up and pics

This first picture is a card I made with the Create a Critter cricut cartridge. I'm not usually a card maker and looking at this photo tells me I need to work on keeping things straight! I love this cart though! The animals and accessories are just fabulous!
Here's Wyatt who has been way into his Woody boots. Now that it's warm, I've had to hide them because he gets a bad case of the feet stinkies when wearing these in the heat!

Maddie, always willing with a smile or funny face when I have my camera out. Her lips are beautiful! So full and red! When she isn't smiling, they are the perfect little bow.

My dear sweet cousin Jodie and her husband Mike. They are expecting their first baby In June and we are all so excited! They are a great couple and will be fantastic parents!

And Sophie has finally conquered the two wheeler! YAY! She didn't care for a long time, and then recently, all she wanted us to do was to teach her how. Weather didn't cooperate for a few weeks, but last weekend, she did it! The photo above was taken just about an hour after she had started cruising on her own. She looks like a pro already!

Went to the Science Farm

Sophies' school has a great partnership with a local farm that specializes in Science and Agriculture. They tailor hands on science experiments to each grade level. It's terrific and the people who work there are just awesome.

So this picture is of one of the new calfs. Calf eyes are just beautiful! SO deep and soulful. But boy, are they dirty! I had to crop this a bit so no one would be offended by the dirty back end!
This is Scout. He's a Burmese Mountain Dog and the official mascot of the Science Farm. He is so friendly and HUGE. His primary job is to make rounds of the farm and check on the animals and kids. He's fun to watch because he actually sticks his head in each pen and the animals walk up to him. The science side of the farm for 1st graders involved energy & pressure and gases/solids/liquids.
Here Sophie is making gak-a mixture of water and borax. It has a really squishy texture that is cool to the touch. The kids loved it! The instructor also did an experiment involving alka-seltzer and water. She placed an alka-seltzer tab inside a film canister with a bit of water then placed it upside down with the lid on. The reaction between the tablet and water caused pressure to build and the cansiter popped off, flying about 15 feet in the air! Major hit with the kids.
I had tons of pictures but they all had Sophies' classmates..It was an incredible field trip and I can't wait to go back next year for the 2nd grade experience!

Ok, so one of them is sideways but at least you get the idea. This is 2 of the 3 posters I did for teacher appreciation week at our kids school this week.
We have such a great group of teachers that doing special things for them is so much fun!
Our schedule for the week:
Monday- Starbucks delivery to classroom
Tuesday- Breakfast for the teachers. I'm making a fruit platter.
Wednesday- Door posters go up :)
Thursday- Classroom thank you day. PTA will give a free car wash to the teachers and the kids will bring in thank you notes or pictures they have drawn. I will also provide a "dinner to go" for our two teachers. Something they can just heat up when they get home.
Friday-Teacher Luncheon and PTA gifts. We were able to purchase beautiful tote bags with our logo and school name embroidered. They will be filled with goodies. I'm making lemonade(from scratch no less!).
this blog has many great ideas for door posters as well as other gifties!
